Las Brisas is just off the main road a short walk to the harbour and the village centre but very peaceful (except for the Ferry horn as it approaches from Fuerteventura) and is one of the original holidayl timeshare complexes on Lanzarote. Las Brisas boasts one of Lanzarote`s largest swimming pools on a private complex with a children`s section and also hand rail and steps into the main pool making access easier for those people with mobility problems. There is also a lifeguard on duty main pool opening times . The complex itself consists of 140 1 and 2 bedroomed semi detached bungalows spread throughout landscaped gardens with mature palm trees rustling in the breeze. There are two tennis courts and a small children`s play area on site. Also there is a small restaurant and a bar area with a larger eating area ideal for breakfast or a lunchtime snack. There is also a small shop for your short term needs. Nightly entertainment takes place here too. Another bonus for Las Brisas is its location. Two minutes from the harbour and two minutes from the Hippodino supermarket. All in all Las Brisas is a great location for that family holiday so no long tedious walks with tired toddlers as everything is close to hand. You dont need a hire car in this area as there are plentiful taxis but I would advise car hire in order to get out and about on the island to make the most of your holiday experience on Lanzarote. There is also a bus stop on the main carriageway which can take you to Arrecife and other interesting places on the island. Fares are relatively cheap. You can change at Puerto del Carmen to get to Costa Teguise and the smaller villages inland such as Haria, Teguise, Soo and Famara.
Casas del Sol is another well run complex with a large car park and a great pool. Situated on the main road to Punto Limones commercial complex and a 5 minute walk from Las Brisas, the whole complex is south facing and a two minute hop from the harbour and sea front. There are tennis courts and a great communal pool. Some bungalows on the higher ground have great views across the harbour to Fuerteventura. Bungalows here are privately owned. You can book them through websites like Owners direct , holiday lettings .co.uk, villarenters and some individual owners sites with a trawl via google or any other search engine. Costs vary depending upon whether one bed or two bed and of course the time of year. On average weekly rentals are about £300 to £500.
If you are staying in Playa Blanca it is an ideal base to visit El Golfo. Fifteen minutes by car past the salt pans of Janubio to the Green Lagoon and then onto El Golfo village. The last restaurant on the left is the Costa Azul. The restuarant owner is from a restaurant family here on Lanzarote and prides himself on fresh simple food cooked simply. Fish straight from the sea and a selection of paellas with great views out over the black basalt rocks to the Atlantic. What could be better with a glass of wine to wash your meal down.
