Guinate Tropical Park,Lanzarote

All Kids love Zoos no matter where they are. Lanzarote`s offering is Guinate Tropical Park which is set in 11 acres of beautifully landscaped tropical gardens in the North of Lanzarote.The Park , which has over 1300 species of exotic birds and animals can be found at the foot of Lanzarote`s tallest volcano Monte Corona.

Species to be found here include the children`s favourites parrots and macaws. There are of course the obligatory parrot shows where the birds do all sorts of amazing tricks much to the amusement of the children (and adults).As well as the Parrots and Macaws there are Flamingoes, Toucans,Ostriches and another children`s favourite Humboldt Penguins. Animals to be seen include Monkeys,Wallabies, Meerkats and Lemurs, which are all great fun to watch.

All of the attractions are set in lush botanical gardens amidst lakes and waterfalls. There is a good quality restaurant in the Park also should you wish to take refreshments here. The Park is easily accessible and no more than a 25 minute drive from the main resorts in the North of the island. If you are in Playa Blanca then a 45 minute trip is all it will take. There are 6 Parrot shows throughout the day plus Penguin feeding takes place twice a day. Ample toilet facilities are available including baby changing facilities. Parrots-4645

This is a less commercial and more natural park in the north of Lanzarote near the small village of Orzola which is the ferry terminal for La Graciosa The focus here is on the native inhabitants of the island .The Park promotes eco-tourism.There are donkey rides,walking tours and handicrafts.The entrance price wont break the bank and includes a basket of food for feeding the many animals in the park. The perfect holiday trip for kids.

The park is open 10.00 till 19.00 7 days a week .Admission is just 3 euros for adults and 2.40 euros for children

Puerto Calero Submarine Excursion

Glass bottomed boats have always been a favourite with children. They get to see the underwater life with no risk and without even getting wet! Well things have moved on a bit in Lanzarote. You can now have the opportunity to go under the water in an aactual submarine. The yellow sub is a familiar site now around the coastline. Cost is 52 e and 30 e respectively fro adults and children. Seems a bit steep but it isnt really . It is a great experience. The sub is moored in Puerto Calero and sails twice a day every day. Tickets can be purchased online or at the office on the sea front.
