There are two ferry companies operating a service from and to Fuerteventura from Lanzarote. The Norwegian firm Fred Olsen has been operating all over Europe for over 50 years and operate ferries throughout the Canaries..The Bocaine Express operates between Playa Blanca and Corralejo, a short six mile trip. The Fred Olsen ferry is a very modern vessel which is a bit of a shame as you don`t get too long to enjoy it! The ferry takes a mere 12 minutes to hop from Corralejo to Playa Blanca. It probably takes just about as long to dock. The ferry operates Monday to Sunday with ticket offices in the respective harbours. First ferry is about 7.45 and the last is about 7pm. Check the timetable for variations throughout the year. You can also book online which is very seldom required as there are usually plenty of seats. Go to the Fred Olsen website for more information. Note that ticket prices are reduced for residents. Currently it is about 48 euros return (about £40).
The other company that runs a ferry between the islands is Armas a Spanish ferry company. Armas also operates 7 days a week and their timetable fits in with Olsens so there should be a ferry every hour or so. The Volcan de Tindaya is named after the sacred volcano on Fuerteventura. The Armas ferry takes longer for the trip (about 25 minutes) but is also cheaper with return tickets approximately 40 Euros or £31 sterling. Personally I prefer the longer journey as I love ships and the sea. You can also book these tickets online too. For more information go to the Armas website. Earliest ferry is 7:00am and last one back to Playa Blanca is 20:00.
